James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old from Belleville, Illinois, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of a Republican congressman at a baseball game in Virginia on Wednesday morning, has died according to a statement read by President Trump.
Trump announced at a press conference before noon that Hodgkinson had died from his injuries after a shootout with security personnel and Capitol Police.
"Authorities are continuing to investigate the crime and the assailant has now died from his injuries," Trump said from the White House.
