The New ‘It’ Trailer Gives Us a Good Look at Pennywise, and He’s Scary as Hell

We've been getting increasingly terrifying looks at Pennywise, Stephen King's demon clown, since Warner Brothers dropped its first It reboot trailer back in March. On Thursday we got a full-on view of Pennywise's bone-chilling face—along with a few brutal scenes of him terrorizing the ragtag band of children trying to hunt him down.

Warner Brothers debuted the new trailer for It, offering up the third official glimpse at director Andrés Muschietti's adaptation of King's classic 1984 horror novel. Bill Skarsgård stars as Pennywise, a killer clown who—for the uninitiated—has been picking off residents of a small town in Maine for centuries, prompting a gang of freaked-out tweens to track him down after he slays one of their younger brothers.

So far, we've mostly seen Pennywise lurking in storm drains or hiding his mug behind a set of creepy, red balloons. But now he's stepped out of the shadows, invading the young investigators' bedrooms, hanging out in abandoned homes, and lurking in what looks like some kind of spooky church—forcing the adolescent clown hunters to confront him face to face.

Watch the new trailer for It above, and catch the movie in theaters when it premieres September 8.
