VICE Liveblogs Tonight's Republican Debate

Tonight's Republican presidential debate, held in Boulder, Colorado and hosted by CNBC, comes at a crucial time for the GOP's 2016 hopefuls. Blustering crazy person Donald Trump has lost his position as the party's comfortable frontrunner and now finds himself in danger of being overtaken by the soft-spoken—but perhaps equally insane—former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson. As VICE columnist Toure wrote this morning, "This is Carson's moment, and a great performance at Wednesday's GOP primary debate could push him higher, pulling support from voters who want an outsider candidate but have tired of the Trump Show."

Meanwhile, Wednesday is a do-or-die moment for Jeb(!) Bush, who was once viewed as the de facto favorite to win the nomination but whose campaign is flailing as the candidate slips in the polls. At a recent campaign stop in South Carolina, Bush all but pouted, saying, "I've got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that."

Will the high-energy Trump collide with the zero-energy Carson to create a presidential candidate with regular energy levels? Will Jeb(!)'s campaign shrivel and die on national television? Will the Republican Establishment's new golden boy Marco Rubio do or say something charming? Will Ohio Governor John Kasich lash out at his own party, and insult any one who might have voted for him in the process. At this point, only God and Ronald Reagan know, and they're not telling.
