Mall of America Wants to Stop Black Lives Matter
The nation's largest mall has gone to court to halt an upcoming Black Lives Matter protest on its grounds. The Minnesota mall has requested a restraining order against eight activists ahead of tomorrow's march, but the protestors say they will carry on regardless. —Minneapolis Star Tribune

No Charges in Jailhouse Death
A Texas grand jury investigating the jailhouse death of 28-year-old Sandra Bland will not indict any staff at Waller County Jail. The jury will decide in January whether the trooper who arrested Bland should face charges. "We still have no answers," said Bland's mother. —USA Today

Alleged Shkreli Accomplice Gets Cancun Vacation
The attorney Evan Greebel, accused of working a major securities fraud with Martin Shkreli, submitted a request to take his family on a Christmas vacation to Cancun, Mexico. The judge has granted the request, but outlined security stipulations. —Bloomberg

Trump Wins Lie of the Year
The Pulitzer-prize winning fact-checker Politifact has awarded Donald Trump it's "Lie of the Year" award, but didn't bother selecting just one falsehood. "It was hard to single one out from the other so we have rolled them into one big trophy." —The Washington Post

Islamic State Losing Ground
Islamic State militants have lost about 14 percent of their territory in 2015, including large swathes of Syria's border with Turkey, according to military think tank IHS Jane's. Syria's Kurds have almost tripled the land they control this year. —Al Jazeera

India Plane Crash Kills 10
A light aircraft has crashed into a wall shortly after take-off, killing all 10 people on board. The Beechcraft King Air plane, chartered by India's Border Security Force (BSF), came down in the Dwarka district near Delhi airport and burst into flames. —BBC News

Afghan Police HQ Under Siege
Police headquarters in the key Helmand province town of Sangin remain under siege after a Taliban attack, according to officials. The British SAS and US special forces have been deployed to help retake lost ground in the province. —The Guardian

Chinese Lawyer Gets Suspended Sentence
One of China's most prominent human rights lawyers has been convicted on charges of disturbing public order and inciting ethnic hatred for online comments. Pu Zhiqiang's three year sentence has been suspended for three years. —AP

Fred Durst Banned From Ukraine
The Limp Bizkit singer has been banned from entering Ukraine for five years. Durst got entangled in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia by expressing an interest in a Russian passport and property in the disputed Crimea region. —Billboard

Pittsburgh Decriminalizes Weed
The city council has voted to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, joining a growing number of US municipalities. Pittsburgh's mayor thinks it is "a common sense change". —The Huffington Post
