This Friday, June 3, HBO will air a new episode from season four of our Emmy-winning show. On the last episode, we talked with Edward Snowden in Russia about the state of government surveillance following his massive NSA leak. This week we investigate America's growing heroin problem and go inside the US military's new nuclear weapons program.
On the first segment, VICE's Thomas Morton traces the journey of heroin from poppy farms in Mexico to users in West Virginia to understand how first responders and government officials are coping with America's surging drug problem, where more people are dying from overdoses than from car accidents.
Then, VICE's Kaj Larsen investigates the US government's largest nuclear modernization effort since the Cold War, which could cost American taxpayers as much as $1 trillion. He goes aboard a ballistic missile submarine to see why the military wants to upgrade the nukes we have—and the potential danger of reigniting a nuclear arms race.
Watch a preview of Friday's episode above and make sure to check it out Friday, June 3 at 11 PM on HBO. If you want more VICE episodes to carry you through the week, you can watch our entire third season online now.
