US Strikes Kill 250 ISIS Fighters in Iraq
A US-led coalition has waged a series of deadly strikes against ISIS in Iraq, south of the city of Falluja. At least 250 suspected ISIS fighters had been killed, according to one US official. CIA Director John Brennan said "we still have a ways to go before we're able to say that we have made some significant progress against them." –Reuters
Black Lives Matter Leader Warns of Protests at DNC
One of the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement, DeRay Mckesson, has warned that activists are prepared to protest for a more progressive platform at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next month. Mckesson said House Democrats had "validated" protests with their recent sit-in over gun control. –USA Today
Obama Assures Canada and Mexico Ties Will Continue
President Barack Obama sought to reassure the leaders of Canada and Mexico that a Donald Trump presidency would not shut off immigration or end trade deals between the countries. Yet Obama did attack Trump at the Ottawa summit, comparing him to the "demagogues" who have exploited anti-immigration sentiment throughout history. –CNN
Cyclist Killed by Grizzly Bear in Montana
A grizzly bear attacked and killed a cyclist just outside Glacier National Park, according to Montana authorities. The bear knocked Brad Treat, 38, off his mountain bike, while the second rider left to look for help. Treat was later found dead. Armed police officers are searching for the bear. –CBS News

Suicide Attack on Police Convoy Kills 30 in Afghanistan
Suicide bombers have attacked an Afghan police convoy outside the capital of Kabul, killing at least 30 people and injuring 50 others. Two bombs hit vehicles carrying police cadets returning from a ceremony on the outskirts of the city. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. –BBC News
Turkey Probes ISIS Link to Airport Attack
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said intelligence points towards ISIS as "the perpetrators" of the attack at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport that left 41 people dead and 239 injured. As Turkey observes a national day of mourning, Yildirim said efforts to identify the attackers, seen arriving at the airport in two taxis, were continuing. –Al Jazeera
Duterte Officially Becomes President of the Philippines
Rodrigo Duterte has been sworn in as president of the Philippines following his election victory in May. Promising to crack down on crime and drug abuse, Duterte said the fight "will be relentless and it will be sustained." The controversial former mayor of Davao City threatened to shoot drug dealers during his campaign. –TIME
EU Tells UK Single Market Access Needs Free Movement
European Union leaders have made clear the UK can only access the lucrative single European market if it agrees to the free movement of EU workers. British politicians continue to claim the country can access the single market and control immigration, but all 27 EU national leaders insisted free movement was non-negotiable. –Reuters

Apple have been granted a patent that could block iPhone cameras temporarily to stop people taking photos in particular places, like concert venues. Transmitters in a venue could send data to your phone to disable the camera while a show is on. –VICE

The National Rifle Association managed to shut down 38,0000 sites hosted by Surge after sending a legal notice about a satirical site created by the Yes Men. The Yes Men parody featured a NRA program to give guns to people too poor to afford them. –Motherboard
