At Monday's off-camera White House press briefing, Sean Spicer clarified that Donald Trump was only "joking" when he asked Russia to hack Hillary Clinton's campaign.
If you don't recall, during the election, Trump said at a Florida press conference, "I will tell you this, Russia: If you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press." Liberal snowflakes tried to portray that as him telling Russia that he approved of hacking efforts, but what they do not understand is that the president simply loves to kid, to josh around, to have a little fun!
That's why, as all the smartest pundits used to say (not sure why they don't say it anymore), you should take Trump "figuratively," not "literally."
For instance, there was that time that tape of leaked of Trump bragging about how much he liked to grab women "by the pussy." At the time, his people called it "locker room talk," and if you know anything about men's locker rooms, it's the place that all these sorts of jokes get made because men (including men who are presidential material) are such jokers.
Or all those years Trump insisted Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States. That's what we call a long-term prank.
Claiming that he actually won the popular vote because "millions" of ballots for Hillary Clinton were fraudulent? What a goofball this Trump guy is.
The five separate occasions he promised not cut Medicaid? Also a joke, we now realize, because he supports a bill that would cut Medicaid. Ha! Remember, figuratively, not literally.
It's good we have a president who is so funny and who says so many things that later turn out to be jokes. I can't wait to see what he'll joke about tomorrow.
