US Warns Syria May Be Planning Another Chemical Attack
The White House has claimed the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad seems to be preparing another chemical attack on his people. "The United States has identified potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack," the White House stated, before warning Assad and his military "will pay a heavy price" if they use chemical weapons again.—CNN

Immigrant Soldiers Could Face Deportation
The Department of Defense might scrap a program designed to help foreign-born service personnel become US citizens, a Pentagon memo showed. If the US abandons the program, roughly 1,000 soldiers without legal immigration status could become targets for deportation. Another 4,100 soldiers could be subject to "enhanced screening."—The Washington Post

CBO Report Estimates 22 Million More Uninsured
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the Senate healthcare bill would leave 22 million fewer Americans with health insurance by 2026 if it becomes law. According to the CBO's report released Monday, it would also result in $772 billion less in Medicaid spending. US Popularity Abroad Dives Under Trump
A survey published Monday by the Pew Research Center found international attitudes on the United States have soured significantly since President Trump took office. The survey of 37 nations found only 49 percent had a favorable view of the US now, compared with 64 percent at the end of Barack Obama's second term.—Reuters

European Commission Slaps Google with Record Fine
The European Commission has fined Google a record $2.72 billion for allegedly breaching antitrust rules by boosting its own shopping tool in search results. The commission said Google had "stifled competition." The company's senior vice president, Kent Walker, said it would review the decision and consider an appeal.—AP

Brazilian President Charged with Corruption
Brazil's chief prosecutor charged President Michel Temer for allegedly accepting bribes from meatpacking company JBS. The charges follow the release of an audio recording in which Temer and Joesley Batista, chairman of JBS, may be discussing bribes. The Supreme Court will now decide if Brazil's lower house of parliament should vote on whether Temer should face trial.—BBC News

British PM Swaps £1 Billion for Power
Prime Minister Theresa May agreed to a £1 billion ($1.3 billion) deal with Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to secure enough votes to give the Conservative Party a parliamentary majority. Mali Al-Qaeda Cell Releases Swedish Hostage
A Swedish national held hostage by al-Qaeda in Mali for nearly six years has been freed and reunited with his family.
