Men Rescued from Mountain After Getting Too High to Walk

This article originally appeared on VICE UK.

Look, we've all had a bad time high on weed. I once smoked a joint of "Lazy Bee" by myself, stood up, and went blind for five minutes from the head-rush—literally just white noise and vague outlines of people and objects where my vision should have been.

So I, for one, can sympathize with the four men who had to be rescued from England's highest mountain this weekend after "becoming incapable of walking due to cannabis use," as the local police force put it.

At about 6:30 PM on Saturday, Cumbria police were called to Scafell Pike—the 3,210 foot mountain in the Lake District—and, working with the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, managed to escort the very stoned men to safety by 9:45 PM, reports the Guardian.

No arrests have been made, but Supt Justin Bibby of Cumbria police did have some sensible words of advice for the four men: "Taking alcohol or any other substance that could impair your judgment significantly increases your risk of getting into trouble. It has no place on a mountain."
