Police Say NYC Attack Was Act of Terrorism
Eight people were killed and at least 11 others injured when the driver of truck targeted civilians on a bike path in Manhattan Tuesday. The 29-year-old suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, reportedly wrote a note pledging allegiance to ISIS. Although law enforcement was treating the attack as terrorism, Governor Andrew Cuomo said there was "no evidence to suggest a wider plot." Saipov, who was being treated in the hospital after being shot by police, is a legal permanent resident (with a green card) who arrived in the US in 2010.—VICE News
Trump Calls for Yet More Vetting
The president said he had told the Department of Homeland Security to "step up our already Extreme Vetting Program." He added: "Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!" Paul Manafort Had Multiple Passports and Fake Name
Newly unsealed court documents reveal why US prosecutors consider the former Trump campaign chairman a flight risk. Manafort had three different US passports and traveled to three countries this year using phone numbers and email addresses linked to a false identity. Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates remain under house arrest after being indicted on a range of charges, including money-laundering conspiracy.—CNN
GOP Pushes Back Tax Bill
A tax reform bill set to debut on the House floor Wednesday has been delayed until Thursday by Republican leadership.
