White House Issues New Visa Rules for Partial Travel Ban
The Trump administration has outlined new visa rules for applicants from six Muslim-majority countries and refugees worldwide after the Supreme Court green-lit part of President Trump's travel ban executive order. People from Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Iran, Libya, and Yemen will now need to prove "close" family or business ties to the US, with sons- and daughters-in-law, for example, included, while grandparents and cousins are not. The rules go into effect Thursday evening.—Associated Press

US Ambassador to UN Celebrates Slashed Peacekeeping Budget
Nikki Haley hailed an agreement to cut almost $600 million from the UN's peacekeeping budget, following pressure from the US. Majority of Hate Crimes Go Unreported, Survey Shows
The majority of hate crimes committed in the US over a period of 12 years went unreported to the police, according to a new report by the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The National Crime Victimization Survey shows that around 250,000 hate crimes occurred each year between 2004 and 2015, but more than 50 percent of them were not reported to law enforcement.—AP

Senators Want Ban on Business with Russian Security Firm
Senators want to ban the US military from doing business with the Russian online security firm Kaspersky Lab. A provision in a Senate spending bill prohibiting any dealings with the Moscow-based outfit follows concerns expressed by US officials the company is too close to the Kremlin. Kaspersky Lab, some of whose employees were interviewed by the FBI this week, insisted it "has no ties to any government."—NBC News

Vatican Treasurer Charged with Sex Crimes
Cardinal George Pell, the Vatican's treasurer and papal advisor, has been charged by Australian police with "historic sexual offenses." Pell, Australia's most senior cleric, has denied the charges and will take a leave of absence from his role at the Vatican to prepare for an impending trial. According to police in the state of Victoria, allegations of abuse were made by multiple people.—VICE News

North Korea Wants to Execute Former South Korean President
North Korea has announced an execution order for former South Korean president Park Geun-hye, accusing her of plotting to kill supreme leader Kim Jong-un. In a statement on state news, North Korea threatened Park and her former intelligence chief Lee Byung-ho with "a miserable dog's death anytime, at any place, and by whatever methods."—VICE News

Driver Storms the Gates of Brazil's Presidential Palace
A driver crashed a car through the gates of the Brazilian president's palace, and security forces fired shots in response. The driver, a minor, was stopped and taken into custody uninjured. Chinese President Makes Historic Visit to Hong Kong

German Cops Removed from Duty After Wild Police Party
