Sith sad boy Adam Driver has signed on to star in the Spike Lee–directed, Jordan Peele–produced thriller, Black Klansman, Deadline reports.
The upcoming film is based on the incredible true story of Ron Stallworth, a black undercover cop in Colorado who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the 70s. In 1978, Stallworth answered a newspaper ad looking for KKK recruits and wound up working his way up the ranks until he became the head of the local Colorado chapter, sabotaging the hate group from the inside.
Denzel Washington's son and Ballers breakout star, John David Washington, is already onboard to play Stallworth, and he'll be joined by Driver's character Flip, a Jewish undercover cop. According to Deadline, Flip works alongside Stallworth in the Colorado Springs Police Department and "is known on the force for being anti-social, and [a] perfectionist, critical of others' mistakes, but brave and dedicated."
Black Klansman isn't even close to being released yet—but between Lee, Driver, Washington, Peele, and the slew of talent behind it, it's definitely gearing up to be huge.
The script was penned by Charlie Wachtel and David Rabinowitz, with help from Spike Lee and Kevin Willmont, and is based on Stallworth's 2014 memoir of the same name. Jordan Peele's production company Monkeypaw will produce alongside Blumhouse's Jason Blum, following the pair's success with Get Out.
This isn't the only white supremacist-smashing project Peele's got cooking, either. He's also working on a TV series called The Hunt, based on real-life Nazi hunters in the 1970s like Simon Wiesenthal, as part of his new overall deal with Sonar.
