Peruvian artist LU.CU.MA—short for Luis Cuevas Manchego—spent 27 years in prison after murdering his brother and others. He says god and art helped him rehabilitate, and after his release he traded his "knife for a brush." VICE traveled to Lima, Peru, to talk to LU.CU.MA about his life and why his paintings feature things like corrupt politicians getting beheaded by snakes.
