'The Bad Batch' Has Won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival

VICE is proud to announce that The Bad Batch, director Ana Lily Amirpour's second full-length feature, was honored Saturday with the Special Jury Prize award at the 73rd annual Venice Film Festival.

The film, co-produced by VICE and Annapurna Pictures, is Amirpour's second directorial effort after 2014's critically-acclaimed Iranian vampire Western A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

The Bad Batch is a neo-dystopian picaresque set in a wasteland outside Texas that the US has officially disavowed. Immigrants, drug dealers, and other criminals have been excommunicated to the lawless zone, including Arlen (played by Suki Waterhouse) and a swath of depraved cannibals. After a chance encounter with fellow-pariah Miami Man (Game of Thrones's Jason Momoa), the societal rejects' fates intertwine in unexpected ways.
