T.J. Miller Is Leaving 'Silicon Valley'

HBO's Silicon Valley may be coming back for a fifth season, but cast member T.J. Miller won't be reprising his role as Erlich Bachman, Variety reports.

On Thursday, HBO announced that Miller was cutting ties with the Emmy-winning show and his pot-smoking, hard-partying role as Erlich, the arrogant entrepreneur. Erlich was a fast friend to the show's lead, Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), though given he's managed to mess things up for Richard in the past, Erlich might not be too sorely missed.

Miller's had minor roles in film and TV in works from Cloverfield to Chelsea Lately, and nabbed his own stand-up special on Comedy Central back in 2011. He also played Weasel in Deadpool, and is slated to make a reappearance in the film's sequel in 2018.

But it was Silicon Valley that really rocketed Miller to prominence. His portrayal of Erlich earned him a Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy back in 2015. The comedian also landed his very own HBO comedy special, Meticulously Ridiculous, which is set to premier June 17. It's unclear why he's leaving the show, but it appears to be an amicable split.

"The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season five," HBO said in a statement. "In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations."
