Nineteen people—including 15 Turkish security officials—were indicted Tuesday on a variety of charges for their role in a violent clash outside the Turkish embassy in DC in May.
The defendants were charged with conspiracy to commit violence, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon of a senior citizen, aggravated assault, assault with significant bodily injury, and simple assault. The charges were all supplemented with a "bias-related hate crime" enhancement, which, under DC's hate crime laws, could increase jail time if the defendants are found guilty.
