Halfway through what the newly appointed FEMA director called "probably the worst disaster" in Texas history, the state could see even more flooding before Hurricane Harvey loosens its deadly grip on the state.
While 30 inches of rain has fallen since the category four hurricane hit land late Friday night, experts predict another 20 inches to fall across the state, making the unprecedented flooding even more severe. The "catastrophic flooding," as Director of the National Weather Service Louis Uccellini described, will likely continue and peak on Wednesday or Thursday, although in a worst case scenario, Hurricane Harvey could head back to the coast and pick up more power before returning to land.
Houston, the country's fourth largest city with 6.5 million people, has taken most of the beating. The city's streets have already turned into free-flowing rivers, fully submerging cars, leveling businesses and homes, and stranding thousands of people while killing at least five others.
